Ari originally named Kronos was imported to the United States shortly after his birth in Ukraine. At the very young age of 1 years old he was presented to the clinic I worked at for decreased appetite, constipation, and lethargy. Once Ari was examined by one of the doctors at the clinic and once radiographs were performed they determined Ari was not only obstipated but had megacolon, his previous owners had two options they could either have Ari go under anesthesia for deobstipation and/or Ari could be Euthanized.

While Euthanasia was an option an employee at the clinic fought hard for him and they opted to have the owner surrender Ari to the clinic instead of Euthanizing him. Ari had 3 days of deobstipation since he would not eat and/or poop 4 doctors and a lot of enemas and manual deobstipation and he was cleared to go home. I decided to take him with me and see how he felt coming home with me. Ari loved the apartment and made himself at home right away! he loved the giant windows we had in Seattle and loved just looking out into the street watching the ambulance lights pass by.

Ari unfortunately continued to get obstipated every 6 months since the time he was surrendered, each time it has become a little bit harder on him. Ari was eventually diagnosed with HCM (Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) and a Grade 2 Heart Murmur. in 2023 He had one of the harder deobstipations up to that point we tried something new rather than have him go with an anesthetic procedure we decided to try GoLytley a diaretic that is given through an NG (nasogastric) tube. 3 days later he was pooping on his own and before I knew it he was ready to come home again, he was not a very happy camper but he was very much happy to be home.

2023 was one of our hardest years only second to what happened next in 2024. Ari was taken to an Emergency only hospital because he was throwing up and vomiting the first doctor who assessed him said she would rather not put him under since he did have a heart history so we monitored him for the day and would re-assess tomorrow. The night time doctor suggested manual deobstipation which I agreed to since it was not his first time, but thats where the complications started. Ari's breathing tube came back with blood in it and was forced to come out of anesthesia. he was started on Lasix a diuretic due to presumed Heart Failure which was later dismissed by the Cardiologist who who said it was more in line with DRVOTO (Dynamic Right Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction).

Ari went into a cardiac episode in 2025 and unfortunaty did not make it. He will forever be missed and loved.
