About Us

What makes us different

We are here to support your pet’s well-being through nutrition. While I don’t diagnose or treat, I work alongside pet parents and veterinarians to help animals thrive. We’re building a space for everyone who loves and cares for them.

Learn More About Us

At Erik Corona Pet Care, our mission is to support pet parents and veterinary professionals by providing expert, non-veterinary clinical nutrition services that help companion animals thrive. We offer evidence-informed guidance that complements veterinary care, empowers pet guardians, and promotes long-term health, comfort, and quality of life.

Our work is rooted in science, collaboration, transparency, and respect for the essential role of veterinary medicine. We exist to bridge the gap between client education and clinical care—offering nutritional insight, practical support, and responsible guidance while always recognizing the veterinarian as the primary medical authority.

Our Philosophy

We believe that nutrition is a cornerstone of preventive care, therapeutic support, and lifelong wellness. Every pet is unique, and their nutritional needs are shaped by species, breed, age, lifestyle, environment, medical history, and individual physiology.

Our philosophy emphasizes:

  • Evidence-informed practice grounded in current research and established nutritional science

  • Collaboration with veterinarians to ensure alignment with each pet’s medical plan

  • Individualized guidance rather than one-size-fits-all solutions

  • Safety, transparency, and ethical boundaries in every recommendation we provide

We do not take a holistic or anti-veterinary stance. We never discourage veterinary visits, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, or prescribed treatments. Instead, we reinforce their importance and help clients understand how nutrition and feeding strategies can support veterinary-guided care.

Who We Serve

We work with a wide range of clients and professionals, including:

  • Pet parents seeking trusted, science-based nutrition guidance

  • Families managing pets with chronic or complex health conditions

  • Clients interested in home-prepared or customized feeding approaches

  • Veterinary clinics looking for nutritional support and client education

  • Rescue organizations and foundations focused on long-term animal wellness

Our services are designed to meet clients where they are whether they are following a veterinary-prescribed plan, exploring commercial diets, or pursuing home-prepared feeding under appropriate guidance.

Our Scope of Practice

We provide non-veterinary clinical nutrition services only. This means:

What We Do

  • Offer personalized nutritional guidance and education

  • Review diets, supplements, and additives for appropriateness and safety

  • Formulate and balance home-prepared recipes

  • Support feeding strategies that align with veterinary recommendations

  • Help clients understand nutritional labels, ingredients, and feeding goals

What We Do Not Do

  • Diagnose medical conditions

  • Prescribe medications or treatments

  • Replace veterinary care or clinical decision-making

When a case falls outside our professional scope, or when advanced medical nutrition therapy is required, we refer clients to a Board-Certified Veterinary Nutritionist (DACVIM–Nutrition).

Veterinary-Prescribed Diets

We strongly support the appropriate use of veterinary-prescribed (Rx) diets when lifestyle, medical needs, and clinical conditions make them the most effective and responsible choice.

Our role includes:

  • Explaining the purpose and formulation of therapeutic diets

  • Reinforcing the importance of consistency and proper feeding protocols

  • Helping clients understand how Rx diets support specific health goals

  • Supporting long-term compliance and transition planning when appropriate

We recognize that, in many cases, these diets are a critical part of a pet’s treatment and recovery plan.

Commercially Available Diets

For clients exploring over-the-counter or commercially available diets, we provide structured, evidence-informed guidance to help them make confident and responsible choices.

We assist with:

  • Evaluating ingredient quality and nutritional adequacy

  • Comparing brands and formulations

  • Matching diets to life stage, lifestyle, and health considerations

  • Identifying potential red flags or nutritional gaps

Our goal is to ensure pets receive balanced, safe, and appropriate nutrition—regardless of the feeding path their families choose.

Home-Prepared & Customized Feeding

We offer professional support for clients interested in preparing meals for their pets at home.

Our services include:

  • Recipe formulation and nutrient balancing

  • Guidance on ingredient sourcing and preparation methods

  • Caloric and portion calculations

  • Ongoing adjustments based on life stage, condition, and goals

We emphasize that home-prepared feeding must be approached carefully and responsibly to avoid deficiencies, excesses, or imbalances.

Supplement, Additive & Product Reviews

We help clients navigate the often confusing world of pet supplements and additives.

Our reviews focus on:

  • Ingredient safety and quality

  • Evidence for intended use

  • Potential interactions or contraindications

  • Appropriate dosing considerations

  • Relevance to the pet’s overall care plan

Our aim is to ensure that every product used adds value not risk to a pet’s health journey.

Education & Client Support

We believe informed pet guardians make better decisions. Education is a core part of what we offer.

We provide:

  • Clear explanations of nutritional science and feeding principles

  • Guidance on reading and understanding pet food labels

  • Support for long-term feeding success and compliance

  • Resources to help clients work confidently with their veterinary teams

What We Offer

  • Recipe formulation and nutrient balancing for home-prepared diets
